Pallbearer is the name given to the people who carry the coffin from the hearse to its final resting place. This might involve carrying the coffin into a chapel, church or crematorium, but also onwards to the grave site if a burial is taking place. Carrying the coffin can be a tricky task as the coffin needs to be lifted and manoeuvred in many different ways. The number of pallbearers at a funeral can vary and may include members of the family.
